Hunts and Fees

The term “hunt” is not to be interpreted as searching for the bison by hiking in open terrain. We know where our bison are at any given time. Please bear in mind that the ranch is located near semi-populated areas which will, to some degree, restrict the direction that one may discharge a firearm. Bow hunts are not restricted in the same way.

Cost and Policy

The cost is $3500 (subject to change) for a 2 1/2-year-old bull that weighs approximately 850 lbs. You can expect about 250 to 300 pounds of boneless meat. After processing, the final wrapped cost would be roughly $12.50/pound. (NOTE: For comparative information, at the Antelope Island, Utah Auction in November of 2016, 2 1/2 year old bulls, sold for as high as $4400 each. The going cost for bison burger is about $10/lb and steaks for as much as $35/lb.) Current butchering fees run between 55 and 85 cents per pound of carcass weight. Cuts of meat are similar to those found on a beef (burger, roasts, steaks, etc.), all of which has minimal to no fat.

We do not condone nor will we permit these animals to suffer needlessly due to a customer’s poor marksmanship. We reserve the right to terminate the hunt and dispatch the animal ourselves depending upon the situation. This determination will be made on an individual basis and will NOT affect the fee paid by the customer (i.e., no remittance of fee, nor an increase thereof).

Harvest Options

We will provide you with transportation to the site of harvest. Or, if you prefer, you may hike to where they are grazing.

Customer shoots – The customer is free to dispatch the selected animal in whichever safe and humane manner best suits him/her. The size of the ranch allows for the use of long or short range firearms as well as bow and arrow.

We shoot – The Owners/Operators (o/o) will accommodate customers wishing to have them (o/o) dispatch the animal to be harvested. This will be done in such a manner as to preserve the integrity of the hide (for tanning) and the head (for mounting).

  • Field dressing the animal is the responsibility of the customer. The o/o may be hired to field dress the animal for a fee. Transport and skinning will be the sole responsibility of the customer.
